Senior Band – Weekly Update 29 May

Senior band made a fantastic start to Mambo no.5 this morning.
The trickiest section was 25-37, which repeats itself later in the piece.
We managed to get right through the piece which is a fantastic achievement.
We will continue working on this piece over the weekend.
Remember to bring all your music.

If it is all in your black folders that makes it a lot easier.

Also remember at least one pencil.

Thank you everyone,

I am looking forward to our weekend.

Junior Band – Weekly Update – 23 May

Let’s Rock was sounding fantastic this morning and I’m sure the grandparents will love our performance tomorrow.  Practice it as much as you can tonight, playing along with the CD and working on any little personal hiccups.

Remember to look and act as professional as you can tomorrow.

  • It is all part of performing.
  • Good posture and instrument position.
  • Eye contact with me throughout.

All essential to a great performance.

Prior to Band camp, please get you child’s tutor to check their instrument and organize any necessary repairs.

We need to start the weekend with all instruments clean and in good working order. Remember spare reeds, spit cloths and  cleaning equipment, depending on what instrument you play.

Senior Band – Weekly Update – 22 May

Senior Band – Weekly Update

Royal fireworks music was sounding fantastic this morning.
Please keep practicing it over the next 2 days in prep for grandparents day.
Pay particular attention to correct rhythm and articulation. We talked alot about not cutting the last note of the bars short.  Whether it is a crotchet or a minim, it needs to be held for its full value.
Clarinets, please work on bars 19-25 and staying in time through this section and onto the next section.  Also note that we only slow day at bar 30 and at the end no where else.

We also had a run through Hawaii 5-O, which I really enjoyed and hope that we get the opportunity to perform soon.

Thankyou
Jane

Junior Band – Weekly Update – 16 May

Junior band will play Let’s Rock at grandparents day next week.  Please polish this piece with your tutors this week concentrating on perfect timing and dynamics.

We also worked on Power rock.  Remember to play along with your CDs.

The children need to be at band rehearsal at 7.30. If you arrive earlier, please help with set up and continue to supervise your child until 7.30.  The volunteers who are setting up cannot supervise extra children so please do not drop your child off (Car Drop and Go) before 7.30am.

Please note: With cross country training on in the mornings, the school has told the runners that if they have band, it is the priority. So unless there is a specific request made by the parents, the runners will stay in band rehearsal.

Thank you.
